Canadian Steve Burles Has a Good Year With His Two Hunter HD
2008-06-11
Horton staff shooter Steve Burles of Ontario, Canada has had an eventful fall, winter and spring season. Steve is not only a top 3D competitor in the crossbow division but a dedicated hunter as well. After finishing 2nd at the Canadian 3D Nationals, Steve took to the “bush” harvesting an impressive Boone and Crockett whitetail in Ontario measuring 172 4/8” using his Hunter HD 150.
Then, Steve traveled to Quebec and scored a great wild boar, with the crossbow he uses for hunting - a Horton Hunter HD 150.
Not content to idly sit by the fire during the cold winter and spring, Steve competed in the“4 Shoot Seaway Challenge” and three other tournaments. In the seven shoots, Steve has had FIVE first place finishes and two seconds.
Equally impressive is that Steve took high overall score in three of the events against all competitors! It is a rare feat when a crossbow shooter can match the score of a top 3D archer.
Great job Steve!
Steve competes with a stock, Hunter HD 175 with Horton’s Mult-A-Range 4x32 Scope, Lightning Strike MX Aluminum arrows with 100 grain bullet points.
Horton's Hunter HD 175 won the 2007 Inside Archery Honorable Mention award.
